  • Romanian oil company Petrom will invest €500 million in the construction of a new power plant to be located in Brazi, Prahova County, which will become operational in 2012.
  • German retail company Kaufland will invest €50-60 million in the development of 7 new stores through the second half of 2010. Kaufland is targeting small cities with less than 40,000 people like Falticeni (Suceava County), Comanesti (Bacau County) and Campulung Muscel (Arges County).
  • German-Austrian drug store network DM will invest an estimated €45 million in developing a network of 100 stores throughout Romania. There are currently 15 units in Bucuresti, Cluj, Deva (Hunedoara County), Targu-Mures (Mures County), Constanta and Oradea (Bihor County).
  • Romanian clinic network Sanador will invest €40 million in the construction of a private hospital in Bucharest.
  • Romanian agricultural company Hortifruct Bucuresti finalized a €15 million investment in its greenhouse complex located in the northern Bucharest.
  • Romanian automotive company Pro Auto Industries invested €12 million in equipment and installation for its new tire recycling factory, located in Fundulea, Calarasi County.
  • The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will, for the first time, invest in a privately held Romanian company; the €6 million investment will allow tissue paper producer Pehart Tec (Petresti, Alba County) to expand its production capacity.
  • Romanian Ferrari importer Forza Rossa will invest an estimated €3 million in opening a 500 m² Ferrari store for promotional items in Bucharest.
  • Austrian transportation and logistics company Gebruder Weiss will invest an estimated €2.5-3 million in the development of a new logistics cross-docking terminal in Sibiu. The plot of land used (27,000 m²) cost an additional €900.000.
  • The Romanian Ministry of Tourism will invest €2.4 million in the development of tourism infrastructure in Piatra Neamt, Neamt County.
  • Romanian hotel complex Centre Ville invested €2 million in re-opening its restaurant, Le Bistro, located in the centre of Bucharest.
  • German discount store network Plus invested an estimated €1.5 million in the development of its 75th Romanian unit, located in Otelu Rosu, Caras-Severin County.
    Italian jewelry store network group Sodo Migliori will invest an estimated €1 million in opening two more stores in 2009, in the centre of Bucharest.
  • Austrian oil company OMV will invest €1 million in modernizing its car wash and store networks.
  • Romanian fashion company Rafar, part of the RTC Group, will invest €1 million in the development of two new stores in Bucharest.

Real Estate

  • International hotel network Marriott will invest €14-18 million in the development of a Courtyard by Marriot hotel in Bucharest, set to open in 2011.
  • Romanian real estate company Advanced Development will invest €2.2 million in the development of a new thirteen-flat residential project in the centre of Bucharest.
  • Greek real estate consultancy company More Real Estate Services invested €1.9 million in the acquisition of several properties.
  • Romanian hotel complex Centre Ville will invest €0.75 million in developing its third unit, Elite Light in 2010, located in Bucharest.
