  • State-owned thermoelectric energy producer Electrocentrale Bucuresti and the trust Unit Investment Belgium-Wienstrom Austria will invest between €550 million and €600 million in the development of two electric power plants in Bucharest (400 MW) and in Fantanele, Mures County (100 MW).
  • State-owned railway transport company CFR SA will invest €256 million in the development of infrastructure projects.
  • The Ministry of Transportation will invest €170 million in the development of three maritime and river infrastructure projects: the 1.05 km expansion of Constanta harbour’s northern mole, the development of a bridge over the Dunare-Marea Neagra channel, and an increase of the harbour's railway capacity.
  • Brasov County will invest an estimated €100 million in the development of an airport near the city of Brasov.
  • The Romanian Authority for Nuclear Activity will invest €46 million over the next six years in the development of environmental projects at its Romag-Termo power plant in Drobeta Turnu Severin, Mehedinti County.
  • The Ministry of Transportation will invest €39 million in the development of a project aiming to improve sailing conditions on the Danube, between Calarasi and Braila.
  • State-owned electricity transmission and system operations company Transelectrica will invest €27.4 million in the development of a conversion plant in Mintia, Hunedoara County.

  • Romanian green product retailer BIO Markt Retail Group invested an estimated €20 million in the acquisition of Romanian green products provider Natura Land.
  • Austrian transportation and logistics company Gebruder Weiss invested €15 million in the development of a logistics terminal in Bolintin Deal, Giurgiu County.
  • Romanian IT&C distributor Asesoft Distribution invested €10 million in the acquisition of the Romanian IT&C retailer eMag.
  • German spices producer Fuchs will invest €10 million in the development of a factory and a regional warehouse in Curtea de Arges, Arges County.
  • Taiwanese electronics equipment waste recycling company GreenWEE International invested €10 million in the development of a 10,795 m² recycling factory in Frasinu, Buzau County.
  • American fast-food chain McDonald’s invested over €9 million in the development of three units in western Bucharest (€4 million investment), which is already open for business, in Sibiu (€2.5 million investment), and in Piatra-Neamt, Neamt County (€2.5 million investment).
  • The Ministry of Labour will invest an estimated €5 million over the next two years to restructure several orphanages with new housing projects for the children.
  • Romanian household appliances and IT&C retailer Flamingo International will invest over €2 million in 2009 in the redevelopment of its stores.
  • Belgian construction materials supplier Interhome Decor will invest €2 million in the development of its third Romanian store (2,500 m²) in Buzau.
  • German discount stores network Plus invested €1.5 million in the development of its 73rd Romanian unit (1,200 m²), which is located in Slobozia, Ialomita County.
  • Romanian car dealer Trado Motors invested €1 million in the development of a post-sale service centre in Iasi.
  • Romanian software solution provider Transart will invest €1 million in 2009 in the development of a 2,000 m² headquarters in Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County.
  • Romanian pharmacy chain and pharmaceuticals distribution company Farmaceutica
  • Remedia will invest an estimated €800,000 in 2009 in expanding its network by five units and in developing two logistics centres.
  • Austrian plumbing and heating systems and products manufacturer Herz Armaturen will invest €775,000 in acquiring equipment and modernising its factory in Cluj County.
  • Romanian refrigeration and air conditioning equipment manufacturer Group Frigotehnica will invest €600,000 in the modernisation of its service network, the acquisition of equipment, and employee training.

Real Estate

  • Belgian real estate developer Warehouses de Pauw will invest €500 million over the next 5-10 years in the development of industrial spaces, warehouses or distribution centres in the Romanian market.
  • Israeli real estate developer Mentor Group Holdings will invest €15 million in the development of a residential project in Timisoara, Timis County.
