- Romanian businessperson Radu Enache will invest between €40 million and €45 million in the development of a conference centre and two hotels in southern Bucharest.
- German retailer Rewe and Romanian retailer Dedeman invested €40 million in the acquisition of a 8.5 ha of land in western Bucharest, where they plan to develop a retail park.
- German do-it-yourself chain Hornbach invested between €20 million and €30 million in the development of a 24,000 m² store in Brasov. The unit, Hornbach’s third in Romania, will be open for business this week. [in fact, I shopped there today for a client in Avant Garden! Not so cheap, but great choice!!]
- Dutch shipyard group Damen will invest €20 million in the development of a producution hall at its shipyard in Galati. The project is set to be completed in 2011.
- German do-it-yourself chain Obi will invest €10 million in the development of two stores in Pitesti (Arges County) and Arad. Both units will be open for business in April.
- National Mineral Coal Company from Petrosani, Hunedoara County, will invest €8.37 million in 2009 in the acquisition of new machinery, environmental issues, mining technology and research projects.
- German private medical service operator Centrul Medical Unirea will invest a total of €8 million in 2009 in the development of six new units (€7 million), three of which will be in Bucharest; and in the acquisition of another unit (€1 million).
- Swedish furniture producer Ecolor invested €3 million in the development of a new production unit at its factory in Jucu, Cluj County.
- Polish door producer and importer Porta Doors will invest €2.5 million in acquiring a production line for adjustable doorframes for its factory in Arad. The equipment will be functional in July – August 2009.
- Dutch medical service provider Euromedic will invest €2 million in the development of its eighth Romanian imaging diagnostics centre in Focsani, Vrancea County.
- Romanian real estate company Landmark Management will invest €1.5 million in 2009 in the rehabilitation of the industrial park in Campulung, Arges County.
- Romanian lingerie and swim suits producer Jolidon will invest an estimated €750,000 in 2009 in the development of 15 new Romanian stores.
- German retailer Rewe will invest €750,000 in the development of its 68th Romanian store in Roman, Neamt County.
- Italian plumbing equipment distributor Romstal invested €650,000 in the expansion of its Romanian network by two stores in Bacau and Calarasi.
